Fan fits to the back of my Quadrafire stove with the 3 screws at the bottom of the heat shield. Fan can be used as shipped but I also bought the 98-RB67-3 thermal switch. There are no instructions included with either the fan or the switch. But the switch is easy to install with some simple elctrical knowledge. I had to go to Radio Shack to get some 1/4" quick disconnect connectors. You'll need 3 male and 1 female for 14-16 guage wire. You'll also need some 14-16 guage wire. I just cut the ends off an old extension cord. With a pair of needle nose pliers remove the connector on the line cord from the motor. Not the connector that goes to the rheostat. Put a male and female connector on the extension cord wire and feed the end into the fan housing. Plug the female connector into the recently removed connector that was on the fan. Plug the male connector to the motor where you removed the original connector. Now put 2 female connectors on the other end of the wire. Plug those connectors on to the thermal switch. Install the fan to the stove and put the thermal switch on the fire box under the heat shield. I just tucked it up the side of the stove towards the back. Make sure the wire is not touching the inner steel panel as the insulation could melt. Plug in the fan and turn on the switch. Now build a fire. When the firebox reaches 110 degrees the thermal switch will close and the fan will come on. No need to ever touch the fan switch again once you've set the desired speed since the fan will automatically switch off when it cools down. I wouldn't try this unless you are comfortable with using hand tools. Also make sure the connectors are installed correctly as it will cause a short circuit if the wires come out of the connectors. Good luck.
